Game News PlayStation 5: Sony sets a record on the PSN before the arrival of the Premium offer!
This has probably not escaped your attention, the financial statements of publishers and manufacturers have followed one another for a few weeks. In the Sony camp, it’s time to party! The PlayStation is preparing to welcome the new formulas of PlayStation Plus and shows a very promising future with the fifth iteration of the console (even if it is still a great hassle to flush out your machine). In the wake of these announcements, Sony also took the opportunity to highlight the success of its subscription service.
With a figure up 800 billion yen (about 6 billion euros), the PlayStation Network (PSN) is doing well! With a turnover of 1,833.8 billion yen (more than 14 billion euros), it is an understatement to say that the Japanese manufacturer’s subscription service has enough to motivate the laying of Sony.
A SIGNIFICANT SUBSCRIBER BASE FOR PSN
During the last strategic meeting of the company, the interested parties thus revealed that the PlayStation Network has reached 100 million active users! The CEO of Sony Group took the opportunity to emphasize the loyalty of its subscribers and we therefore understand the future evolution of the service. On June 22, the PlayStation Plus will indeed split into three formulas: Essential, Extra and Premium. Depending on the offer chosen, owners of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 will of course be able to play online, but also access a catalog of games, discounts, cloud backups, etc. With a user base that turns out to be rather substantial, Sony is counting on these new formulas, in particular access to “retro” titles from the Premium offer, to inflate this figure and counter the Xbox Game Pass. 2022 is definitely shaping up to be a good year for the manufacturer.
