There is a new Pokémon Go Spotlight hour every week. These events only happen for an hour, but they are a good opportunity for you to catch a particular Pokemon and add it to your collection. The Pokémon that appear in this hourly event vary, and how these events work can be vague. This guide will cover what Pokémon Go Featured Hours are and how they work in the mobile game.
What is a Pokémon Go attention hour?
A Pokémon Go Spotlight Hour event is when, for a single hour, a particular Pokémon spawns all the time. At the start of the event, the Pokemon takes over all the spawn locations in the game, being the only one available that you can find in the wild. Of course, you can still participate in raids or receive different Pokémon from field research tasks or different encounters to complete special research tasks, but the Pokémon Spotlight Hour dominates all the wild spawns in the game.
The Spotlight Hour event only lasts an hour, giving you a limited window to find this Pokémon or allowing you to avoid it if you’re trying to hunt others for an event.
How Pokémon Go Featured Hours work
Pokémon Go Spotlight Hour occurs every Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in your local time zone. Featured Pokémon for the event are always announced in advance, with a strict schedule. There will also be an upgraded reward for the event. For example, Wingull will be the center of attention at the event and all players will receive double XP for catching Pokémon. Although you may not be hunting Wingull, it’s a good opportunity to increase your Pokémon Go level. You can choose to double these effects by activating more items, such as Starpieces or Lucky Eggs.
All Pokémon that appear in this event have a higher spawn rate, but they do not have a higher shine rate. Although the odds of finding a shiny Pokemon remain the same because it appears more frequently, you have a better chance of finding a shiny version due to the number of them you can find in a short amount of time.
Pokémon Go Featured Hours are brief but consistent. We recommend checking which Pokemon will be in the spotlight before the event starts every Tuesday, making it the perfect time to pick up more candy for a particular Pokemon or receive XL Candy.
