the team behind Prey he went to great lengths to accurately portray Comanche people and culture, which pleased mixed-Indian actor Julian Antelope Black.
Black, who plays Chief Kehetu in this new Comanche Nation setting, Predator delivery, told ScreenRant that industry representation has been elevated thanks to the work that went into the film.
“It’s actually been a much-needed breath of fresh air of late to see the industry putting a lot of effort into making sure things are counted accurately and making sure the right people are advising you, making sure they’re going to using the language, making sure it is spoken correctly, having linguistic and cultural advisers on set.”
Comanche/Blackfoot Jhane Myers was a Comanche Cultural Advisor at Prey. Black sang his praises and proclaimed that through his presence and disposition, he inspired many of the indigenous youth on set:
“She was amazing to be around and work with, very approachable, which is very refreshing to see someone in her position, and very receptive and open to collaboration and ideas, which is something I hadn’t heard of at this level. . from a movie. So it was very nice to see. And I think it was very inspiring for a lot of our young people who were on set, whether they were cast in acting roles, or whether they were just background actors who just got through the day. I think it was very, very inspiring for them to see one of their own in a position like that, and being so approachable works on so many levels. I think.”
