Inti Creates, the developer behind Azure Striker Gunvolt 3, the long-awaited third main game in the series, has acknowledged that there is a bug corrupting save data in the Switch version of the game.
When sharing information on Twitter, the error can occur when you delete a saved file and then change the settings or language options on the title screen. This will cause the last played save file to be corrupted. The issue only appears to have occurred since the game was updated to ver. 1.0.2.
Fortunately, Inti Creates has confirmed that they are working on a patch to fix the problem. He also shared tips on how to avoid the problem in the meantime.
We have shared the following statement alongside the original tweet:
Important Information About Gunvolt 3 Save Error
A bug has been discovered in the Nintendo Switch version of Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 that is capable of corrupting save data. See the information below for methods to avoid this error. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Details about the problem
The following issue exists in Azure Striker Gunvolt on Nintendo Switch as of ver. 1.0.2.
Deleting a save file from the file selection screen and then changing settings or language options from the title screen will cause the last played save slot to read incorrectly.
Starting the game from this slot, then hitting an autosave or manual save will cause this save slot to become corrupted.
How to avoid
If you run into a situation that can cause this issue before a new update is released, please close the app before the game can auto-save (it happens when you change settings). Relaunch the game to resume the game normally.
If a save slot has already been corrupted, delete that save slot or copy save data from a working slot over to it to restore functionality to that save slot.
Update information and apologies
We sincerely apologize to all customers who have experienced this issue.
We are already working on preparing a patch to fix the problem. We will announce the distribution date of the update as soon as possible. Until the patch is available, use the above methods to avoid the save error.
Hopefully the patch will be ready soon enough so players don’t have to dance, and we’re glad Inti Creates recognized the issue quickly.
In our Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 review, we complimented the new playable character and tight level design, stating that “the focus on the ranking system makes this a highly replayable experience.”
