Fortnite is prone to the most ridiculous crossovers. Marvel and DC characters are pretty typical of video game cameos at this point, sure, but it gets incredible when you start to shoot Street Fighter, Dragon Ball, Star WarsY naruto. It is brilliant. Seeing Goku go after Doctor Strange with a lightsaber never gets old.
With Halloween creeping up, it opens the door for some really fun crossovers, and this year sees Ash Williams from Sam Raimi’s cult horror hit. the bad death Make the cut. The character, played by Bruce Campbell in the movies, puts on his own skin. And Comicbook found that there’s a really fun easter egg if you meet Spider-Gwen or Spider-Man in the game with Ash’s skin.
If you, dressed in one of the spider suits, approach Ash, he’ll say “You remind me of this fighter I met…”, a nod to the origins of Sam Raimi’s 2002 Spider-Man namesake. Spiderman movie. In the film, Bruce Campbell plays a wrestling announcer who gives Maguire the iconic name. This is a cheeky little nod to that, which we think is really funny.
It shows that Epic Games really pays attention to detail and embraces the fun these crossover characters bring to the hugely popular Battle Royale. Evil Dead on its own is an awesome addition, but this little touch makes it even more awesome.
This year’s Halloween event in Fortnite sees you transform into a werewolf, take part in a new limited-time mode called Zero Build Horde Rush, and new XP quests. The event will last until November 1, so make sure you hit the battlefield under a full moon.
