2022 is shaping up to be a pretty good year for Kirby. First there was the release of Kirby and the Forgotten Land in March, which we described as “an absolute delight” in our review, then there were the recent 30th anniversary celebrations, and now the release of Chompy’s couch co-op game, Buffet of Dreams. from Kirby.
To celebrate this latest release of the game, the kirby cafe in Japan has taken to Twitter to announce that its Tokyo and Hakata branches will start selling a Dream Buffet-inspired dessert starting September 1.
Loosely translating to ‘Kirby’s Gourmet Sweets Tart’, the dessert is a stacked platter consisting of a tart base topped with strawberries, cream, and of course, a very full-looking Kirby. The yellow, brown, and green balls surrounding the main event are a clear reference to the Kirbys competing in Dream Buffet, though based on the tired look on OG Kirby’s face, it’s pretty clear the pink won this round.
Unfortunately, the dessert will only be available at the two Kirby Cafes in Japan (unless they’re open to running an international Deliveroo service), so it looks like the images above are as close as we’re going to get to trying this delicious treat. dish. for now.
Keeping us entertained in the meantime, Kirby’s Dream Buffet is out today and is available to download from the Switch eShop for £13.49. One way or another, we’re getting our Kirby fix.
