It is a great credit to the game design of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild that, five years later, we are yet discovering new things. These various teasers have come in many forms, from glitches to finding secret locations to interesting character interactions, with the latest coming from the Reddit user’s persistence in seeking out very specific NPCs.
Those who have played Breath of the Wild, which, we assume, is just about everyone reading, will be well aware of the banana-dropping Yiga Clan and their tricky, shape-shifting interrupts over the course of their journey. But did you know that each wandering Yiga member’s costume is in fact based on another NPC somewhere else in Hyrule?
As our friends at Eurogamer pointed out, in what can only be described as the biggest Where is Wally-hunting style available for Switch, just looking for dragon took care of finding the original named NPC counterpart for each clone of Yiga. Pinning the search for him to the Yiga at Hebra Trailhead Lodge, the brave explorer was able to see a total of 14 different costume options by saving or reloading the game (forcing the Yiga to do something like a virtual game). fast change on another character).
Having taken a photo of each costume, the Redditor tracked down each of the corresponding NPCs to prove his point. Below are some examples of their finds consisting of photos of the NPC and where to find them, but be sure to check out the original Reddit thread to see how much work went into tracking down all 14 ‘twins’.
Rik is a Hylian traveler who makes his way between the Wetland Stable and Kakariko Village. He worries about almost everything except his identity being stolen.
Ronn was a little harder to track down as the wiki doesn’t have a description on him, but I did find him near the Forgotten Temple. His horse wanted to be in the picture so badly that I couldn’t get a better picture of the rider.
Spinch the Hylian Not to be confused with prick the horse. The wiki doesn’t have much information on them, but I did find “the Spinches” in the Lakeside Stable. That guy basically just talks about horses.
With over 200 NPCs spread across Breath of the Wild’s sprawling map, these finds are pretty impressive. Speaking of finding a needle in a haystack! Maybe they can help us find that Korok we’re still missing. grrr.
