Sharpen your sword again…
SNK launch in 2019 samurai duel is an ingenious game, both literally and metaphorically. The cult fighter managed to successfully reinvent itself for modern platforms while retaining the very deliberate, intense, high-damage combat style of the Neo Geo classics. Packed with engaging characters and powered by easy-to-learn, hard-to-master gameplay, samurai duel he is a unique fighter who deserves to sit within the spirit of the current age.
And it looks like the cult title is getting a chance to take a second hit for gold, as developer SNK has announced that it has teamed up with studio Code Mystics for a new update that will implement a new throwback network code for PlayStation, Xbox and PC editions of the vintage piece scrapper. Weather sasho is a good title from an aesthetic and gameplay point of view, unfortunately the online element leaves a lot to be desired. While, in 2022, you can still find people fighting for good, lag-free action is harder to come by, which is impossible in such a precise, high-damage fighter.
And so, for the dedicated samurai duel community, and fighting game fans in general, the rollback netcode update will be a very welcome addition, along with a sign that SNK hasn’t abandoned the title in favor of some of their more modern releases. In fact, it is believed that the new update should bring online fluency online with The King of Fighters XVwhich has very solid online stability once its fights are underway.
No specific release date was announced for the new update outside of the general window of Spring 2023. Samurai Shodown is available now on PS4, Xbox, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Stadia. Once again, the netcode update will only be coming to the PlayStation, PC, and Xbox editions of the game.
