Game News Scarface 2: this GTA competitor canceled by Activision (Call of Duty) resurfaces
Back in 2006. That year, Radical Entertainment released Scarface, the video game based on the film. Even better, this one was a direct sequel! A GTA-like that had received good reviews and a sequel was to see the light of day… before being canceled.
white track
Scarface: The World is Yours was a naughty GTA-like but with a rather attractive concept: it embodied Tony Montana… but in an alternate universe where he would not die at the end of Brian De Palma’s film. The player thus continued the rise of the mafia in Miami with great blows of corruption and M4 bullets with a rather pleasant bling-bling side : there was even a rapper in CGI with rapper Rohff on French television!
Given the rather positive reception of the title, the development studio had planned a sequel… which was unfortunately canceled along the way. It was only recently that a YouTuber named Mafia Game Videos, who was among the developers at the time, made recent revelations.
The game was to be called Scarface Empire, but it was Activision that drew a line under the project, just after the acquisition of the Radical Entertainment studio and for a very simple reason: other open world titles were then in development and the publisher simply did not show interest in this new Scarface. The developers themselves have lost years of work.
Pictures and a video
A huge mess some would say, and probably rightly so. The videographer thus offers us the draft scenario of Scarface Empire: forced to leave Miami, Tony Montana then attacked Las Vegas to expand his empire there, much to the chagrin of local crime and its aversion to cocaine trafficking (precisely the spearhead of our gangster). Enough to trigger a criminal war, encouraging the player to take the casinos by force to establish his dubious activities there.
Even better, we even have images and a video of this aborted project which definitely seemed to think big, much more than its predecessor. Who knows, maybe one day…
