Game news Scorn: Dive into the debut of the exclusive Xbox in 4K, as fascinating as it is disturbing
Scorn is finally about to come out after long, very long years of development and yes: its atmosphere is likely to destabilize more than one. Don’t believe us? Maybe those long minutes of gameplay just might change your mind.
Early morning discomfort
If you are fascinated by the works of Hans Ruedi Giger, known for his art and for being behind the famous biomechanical sets of the film Alien, then you have come to the right place. Scorn draws directly from the tortured mind of the Swiss artist to establish his damn tortured universe: we embody a poor soul, wandering in levels visibly abandoned, but in reality full of mysteries.
With the help of the surrounding technology, he will have to solve puzzles and face some very dirty critters; moreover, it’s the general tone that is in the dirt with, strangely, a majesty that emerges from the sets and their grandeur. We remind you that the narration will be done in a very implicit way, so as to reinforce the immersion: if you doubt it, we advise you to watch the gameplay extract at the beginning of the article, in our video player.
“But what am I looking at”
The developers at Ebb Software have been generous this week: they just released their baby prologue, which translates to about eight minutes of gameplay. We then appreciate the beginning of this very creepy adventure which will be played entirely in the first person and which will not hesitate to plant you in a deeply disturbing atmosphere.
Enough to convince a good part of the public fond of this kind of atmosphere: we remind you that the software has been in development for years (a Kickstarter had already seen the light of day in 2016) and that his nightmarish journey will last between six and eight hours, according to the Serbian studio.
Ah, and the other important fact is that Scorn has since become a Microsoft exclusive and will therefore only be released on PC and Xbox Series on October 21. In the Xbox Game Pass, in particular, as is the tradition with the American titan.
