When the Disney Plus series that eventually became She-Hulk: Lawyer was first announced, Marvel Cinematic Universe fans instantly placed Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock and Krysten Ritter Jessica Jones at the top of your cameo wish list.
After all, the rights to the street favorites had reverted to Kevin Feige following Netflix’s cancellation of the entire Defenders roster, while their respective day jobs as lawyers and private investigators made them ideal candidates to pass and be in favor or oppossing. Jennifer Walters in Tatiana Maslany.
As fate would have it, Cox is back as the Man Without Fear, but so far any hope for Ritter seems misplaced, unless of course Marvel is hiding a big surprise up their sleeve. However, in an interview with Tara Hitchcock, director Kat Coiro admitted that it is something she would love to see happen.
“I think the person that I think fits the most organically in the world is on the show. In fact, I think Jessica Jones would be a good addition. Every existing MCU character that came into this show had to make the adjustment from being in things that are much more serious to being in something that is tonally more outrageous. And they’re all such wonderful actors and so adept at adapting, but it was definitely fun to see that transition and see them go, ‘Oh, is this okay for me to do this?’ The biggest question everyone asks me is ‘Am I going too far?’ And I would say ‘Absolutely not! Go further!”
While the filmmaker deftly danced around the line of investigation, Ritter has been fanning the flames of speculation on social media, so no one would be surprised if Jessica turned up in she-hulk. If not, then a potential season 2 provides the perfect opportunity to make it happen.
