This article contains spoilers for She-Hulk: Lawyer episode six
We are now in six episodes She-Hulk: Lawyer, which means there are only three left for the first season. So far, the show has focused more on self-contained comedic plotlines than an overarching narrative, but a few developments at the end of this week’s installment surely hint at what will happen in the finale.
Jen’s co-workers, Nikki and Mallory, discovered a Reddit-like website called Intelligencia where users were campaigning to cancel She-Hulk and planning methods to kill her. Then, in the final moment, we see someone in a mysterious lab connected to the failed assault on Jen in episode three preparing for another attempt to steal her blood. On his screen was a message from a user named HulkKing asking “Is the next phase of the plan ready?”
In the Marvel comics, the Intelligence is a group made up of some of the most intelligent and sinister minds on earth, primarily MODOK. They were instrumental in the creation of the Red Hulk, and also forcibly transformed Hulk’s allies into “Cosmic-Gamma Mutates” aliases Similar to the Hulk.
This backs up what Marvel sleuths theorized a few weeks ago. So if you don’t want to know how the season will end, stop reading now.
In episodes four and five we met the creepy Todd, who went on a date with She-Hulk and muttered “what a specimen…”. On the Disney Plus release, the credits referred to him simply as “Todd”, but in the screener sent to critics he was described as “HulkTodd”. A leak in December said that we would see She-Hulk facing off against an “imitation Hulk” with “awkward proportions,” so at this point it seems very likely that this is Todd in Hulk form.
Whether this means we’ll get our first look at MODOK this season (potentially played by Jim Carrey!) remains to be seen, but we know he’ll play a big role in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in February 2023, so it would make sense given Marvel’s previous tactics of teasing villains before they make their full debut.
For now, we’ll have to wait to find out for sure, though it looks like at least the next two episodes will focus on Matt Murdock/Charlie Cox’s Daredevil as he takes on Jennifer Walters in court.
She-Hulk: Lawyer airs on Disney Plus every Thursday.
