Marvel Cinematic Universe is a famous chaste franchise, with eternal presenting the first sex scene of the superhero saga, which was as exciting as watching paint dry. However, the team behind She-Hulk: Lawyer are here to get your juices flowing, with the cast and crew promising Marvel Studios’ hottest project to date.
That’s to be expected given that trailers and promo spots have variously shown Tatiana Maslany’s Jennifer Walters immersing herself in the dating pool, literally leading a man into her bedroom and even discussing the subject of Steve Rogers’ virginity. However, as showrunner and head writer Jessica Gao revealed to Entertainment Weekly, it goes much deeper than that.
“One thousand percent, I have been saying repeatedly that we are a very horny show. We are all very sex positive, so this is a very sex positive show. And we don’t want it to feel like a taboo, because this show is supposed to be a full, realistic portrait of a woman’s life, a single woman in her 30s, and sex is part of everyone’s life. It’s biology. basic. It is a very normal and healthy part of human beings. We didn’t want to feel like we were going to paint a picture of this woman’s life, but not that part.”
Some audiences won’t expect a Disney Plus family series to tackle issues of sexuality, especially in regards to a gamma-rayed, muscle-bound lawyer for days, but that was part of the appeal that drove Gao’s take on the comic. book adaptation.
“In the Marvel movies, they have other things to worry about: they’re trying to save the world, they’re trying to save the fate of humanity, so there’s not a lot of time to say, ‘But also, what is that? ? What happens in the applications? for them. But on our show, because it shows his daily life, the universe is not at stake, so that’s something we really wanted to make sure we focused on. The entire show is not just about her dates, but it is an aspect of her life.”
She-Hulk: Lawyer has been getting strong early warnings, but we’ll see how pearl-hungry subscribers and unsuspecting viewers react when Gao lives up to his “push some boundaries” ideology regarding sex and the MCU.
