Rainbow Six Siege patch Y7S3.1 is out now, and it makes at least one change that you’ll likely notice right away. According to the patch notes, the bug that caused the new Operator Grim to appear with ‘stretched textures’ in the multiplayer game menu has been fixed. There are also some additional minor tweaks and fixes, including one for crosshair flickering while you’re cooking shards.
Ubisoft has discussed the menu glitch with Grim as a texture extension bug, but that somewhat understates what’s been going on. Since the release of Operation Brutal Swarm, which introduced Siege’s new Singapore attacker, Grim has occasionally been appearing in the display slot of Siege’s main menu as if he had been physically attacked by Salvador Dali’s subconscious.
Here’s a fan video showing the bug in action:
Elsewhere in the patch notes, Ubisoft says that it fixed an issue that prevented the crosshair from flashing while cooking a frag grenade. This is a slightly more impactful update, as many players use crosshair blink to gauge when to cast their shards. That should work again as of this patch.
The patch also makes it so players can see Lesion’s gu mine icons through walls when entering a spy tool, and Vigil’s ERC-7 will no longer prevent Grim’s hive from pinging him.
The Y7S3.1 update weighs in at 1.33GB on Ubisoft Connect and 1.6GB on Steam, and is available to download now.
