When worlds collide. marvel superhero simu-liu recently met with a Star Wars Jedi Master and, judging by the big smile on the former’s face, he was beyond excited. Liu often feels very relatable to fans because his reactions to his rise in Hollywood feel like a lot of us would react to being in the same position, pure enjoyment and constant admiration for the other celebrities.
This time it was the legendary Scottish actor, Ewan McGregor. Although the actor is known for various roles, including in train sighting Y Moulin RougeMost will recognize him from his role as Darth Vader’s former Jedi Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Liu tweeted a picture of him meeting the actor and used a very obvious but classic quote like any good fan, “why he hi”.
fans of the Star Wars The franchise will have been reunited recently with these words at the end of the Obi Wan Kenobi Series on Disney Plus. The show is set nearly a decade before the original trilogy, where fans first met the character of Old Ben, later played by Alec Guinness. Guinness first said “hello” upon meeting Luke and the droids R2-D2 and C3PO in the first Star Wars movie, A new hopeand they were the first words of the character.
However, it wasn’t until McGregor stepped into the role and uttered the same line on Revenge of the Sith that the short phrase was actually attached to the character, becoming an internet meme. Listen to them one more time at the end of Obi Wan Kenobi brings the character around full circle, perfectly mirroring the character’s introduction on screen and in our hearts.
We are all very jealous of Liu, one for becoming a Marvel superhero and two for meeting a real Jedi Master. But he really enjoys every moment and he shares it with us for all to see, so we’ll set him free.
