After more than a decade, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim has undergone some graphic changes, and a modder decides to improve the textures of the dragon.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is, without a doubt, one of the most successful Western RPGs to ever see the light of day. And even though it is quite a violent and scary title at times, it is also considered one of the best video games to induce mindfulness in its player base. This is probably due to the images that, although they have aged over the years, are still considered by many to be impressive and even inspiring. Of course, there is always room for improvement and modifications always appear to modify more than just the graphics of the landscape.
As assembled by DSO Gaming, several texture plugins created by XilaMonstrr have made their way to Nexus Mods, looking to improve the overall visual quality of the game’s infamous dragons and more. In particular, there are a couple of mods that improve the winged beasts of Skyrim to give them 8K textures, with images on the pages showing highly detailed scaling and punchy colours. One pack offers an overhaul of the overall aesthetic of these magnificent creatures, while another adds 13 new species of dragons with 8K textures.
Dragons are an integral part of Skryim, literally forming the narrative of the main story. Many people who have played the game can remember the first time they encountered one. Outside of the main quest, it’s not uncommon to be wandering around the vast desert, only to see a large shadow looming over the protagonist and battle music starts playing. Some may try to avoid them, but many like nothing more than going from end to end. face to face with one that pounced and interrupted their journey. For these people, seeing them up close with 8K textures will be an interesting experience.
XilaMonstrr has also created additional mods, such as ones that upscale the animals in the game to 4K and 8K. There is also a texture pack that enhances the images of SkyrimThere are many books and magazines. Many will agree that modding the game is par for the course when it comes to Bethesda’s 2011 epic, especially for those playing on PC.
Despite Skyrim is one of the highest rated RPGs of all time, some may feel it’s time to move on. It’s over a decade old at this point. And while fans still get a lot out of it, there’s a strong argument that 11 years is more than enough for any game and that Bethesda ideally needs to give some updates in the next installment.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim It is available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
