If you’ve been tempted to buy Lego sets like the Friends Central Perk kit, time is running out: Lego is retiring a collection of popular builds very soon, which means it’s going to be harder and harder to get them at a reasonable price (if not totally impossible).
The full list of products that will be returned to the vault imminently can be found on the official Lego Store. (opens in a new tab), but the main casualties that sting are the Imperial Star Destroyer, the Friends Central Perk set, the Lego Disney Castle, the 1989 Batwing, and the Ideas Seinfeld kit. We still don’t have a precise date for their disappearance, but it stands to reason that they will be removed in the next month or so.
Although these kits are being saved, that doesn’t necessarily mean they weren’t popular; this is how Lego works. Officially, it’s a way to clear the way for new products so the line doesn’t become obsolete. Also, it is It’s possible to see retired products join the best Lego sets on shelves again after a hiatus of years. That certainly happened with the Lego Batmobile Tumbler build and Lego Stranger Things Upside Down.
