news tip Splatoon 3: how to enjoy the Splatfest? All our tips!
Festivals (or Splatfest) have always been part of the Splatoon experience. They allow players to participate in a mini-tournament and fight over a weekend to determine a winner. In the third opus, they are obviously back, and even offer some new features.
If the Splatoon saga is known for its Territory Wars and for its stylish and colorful characters, it has also stood out from other shooters thanks to its famous Splatfests. Organized by nintendo relatively regularly, they allow players to choose a team and defend its colors in a mini-tournament over a weekend. In Splatoon 3, these festivals are back, and even allow you to play a brand new game mode: Tricolor Wars. To do this, you will have to play between Saturday September 24 at 2 a.m. and Monday September 26 at 2 a.m.. But the festivals are not just about his extra matches. To be able to enjoy all that they allow, we offer you a summary of the activities of the Splatfest.
- Choose a team
- Collect a maximum of bonuses
- Earning and using conches
- Play the new Tricolor Wars mode
Choose a team
In Splatoon 3, each Splatfest will be an opportunity to answer an existential question. While the beta of the game let you choose which technique is better between Rock, Paper or Scissors in the famous eponymous game, this weekend’s festival asks what you would take with you to a desert island. In the center of the Cité-clabousse, you will therefore find a giant screen (right next to a t-shirt stand) with which you will have to interact to choose one of the three teams :
Once this is done, you will be able to collect an exclusive t-shirt bearing the image of your team., which we advise you to equip with this step. Note that it will disappear from your inventory at the end of the festival, and that you will receive a new one at each of these events.
Collect a maximum of bonuses
If we advise you to equip the festival t-shirt when you pick it up, it’s simply because it allows you to farm a lot of bonus fragments. Indeed, while you normally need 28,000 experience points to add a bonus to your equipment, the Festive T-shirt only requires 8,000, or almost 70% less. If you have just started the game and you do not yet have equipment with three bonuses, this is the perfect opportunity to have one during the festival.
But even better, you can also collect the fragments of these bonuses for much less than the normal price by going to see Tipik. Indeed, removing bonuses from your equipment normally costs you 30,000 gold coins, against only 2,000 gold coins for the festive T-shirt! It is simply huge! If you want to collect fragments to optimize your classic outfits, this is the perfect opportunity to do so.
Besides, if you’re the type who wants to have the best bonuses on your equipment, even for those that disappear at the end of the festivals, know that the Festive T-shirt also allows for being optimized for far fewer shards than the others. Indeed, it will only give you 6 bonus fragments to replace the main one (against 45 normally), and 3 for minors (10 normally).
Finally, note that each festive T-shirt will come with the major bonus “Bonus x2”, which doubles the effect of all minor bonuses on the same equipment.
Earning and using conches
We told you about it earlier in the week, the festival periods also allow you to win conches. These items will be awarded to you each time you level up a Catalog throughout the Splatfest period, from the time you can choose a team until the end of that weekend. The more you collect, the better your team’s chances of winning the tournamenteven during the week preceding the main matches.
Additionally, these conches can be used on the capsule dispenser in the multiplayer lobby. By doing so, you will be able to recover many cosmetic bonuses such as titles or stickers for example. Note, however, that all your conches will disappear at the end of the festival, so it is imperative to use them all before if you don’t want to miss out on your rewards.
Play the new Tricolor Wars mode
Of course, the heart of any Splatoon 3 festival is Turf Wars, and the new Tricolor Wars mode. Once you choose a team, all you need to do is play games as normal to earn points for your team. During the entire first half of the festival, you will therefore face players who have chosen one of the other two teams, and each victory will bring yours closer to the trophy.
From the second half of the Splatfest weekend, however, the big news for Splatoon 3 will come. A broadcast will take place to count the points accumulated so far by the three teams, and the best of them will find themselves alone against the other two during the famous Tricolor Wars. If you are part of the leading team, you will not have to do anything more and you will be forced to play this new game mode once in a while, during which you will have to defend your position against the onslaught. of the other two teams. If you are one of the latter, you will have the choice between continuing to play in classic Turf Wars, or participating in the Tricolor Wars.
