We all expected Splatoon 3 to be a big hit in Japan, but the third shellfish shooter has taken the world by storm since its release two weeks ago. It has even made an impact in countries where it has not been released! One such case is in China, as the senior analyst at Niko Partners highlights. Daniel Ahmed — where 46% of streamers from various Chinese streaming services streamed Splatoon 3 since its release on September 9.
This data was taken from Niko Partners’ China Games Streaming Tracker and shows that not only 46% of streamers stream their fantastic game, but also 72% of tips on the three listed services (DouYu, Huya and Bilibili). they have also gone to the broadcasts of Splatoon 3.
Even though Nintendo hints and octolings haven’t officially made a splat in China, that hasn’t stopped streamers from importing the game. Splatoon 3 is also the first game in the series to have a Simplified Chinese localization, which is likely broadening the game’s appeal in the country:
In 2021, Nintendo was the market leader in China. Nintendo partnered with Tencent to launch the Switch in the country in 2019, which has sold 1 million units. We’re sure Splatoon 3 will eventually officially land in China, which will likely help the console further boost Nintendo’s place in the market. The Switch OLED model launched in China in January 2022, just three months after its global launch.
