Game News Splatoon 3: still incredible sales on Nintendo Switch, two weeks after its launch!
The launch of its third installment has definitely brought the Splatoon series into the big leagues. Two weeks after its release, Splatoon 3 continues to post very impressive sales records, especially in Japan!
Splatoon 3, the essential!
Nintendo Switch owners around the world welcomed Splatoon 3 in droves upon launch, but it is especially the Japanese players who stand out with incredible sales figures ! At the beginning of last week, we already reported to you that the game had accumulated more than 3.45 million units sold on Japanese soil alone and only three days after its launch! Nintendo had even pointed out that it was the highest domestic sales score for a Nintendo Switch game in the first three days post-launch. And it’s far from over for the crazy rise of Splatoon 3…
Record sales, even in the boxed version!
Today, it is the Japanese charts that make it possible to realize how much the title is acclaimed by players. Two weeks after its release, Splatoon 3 displays no less than 2.441 million copies sold in physical version in Japan ! In the last week alone, Splatoon 3 easily outclasses the sales of Dragon Quest X Offline, freshly released on the archipelago, or the irreducible Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Physical sales of the Splatoon series after 2 weeks in Japan:
- Splatoon (Wii U) – 213,731 (1.5 million LTD units)
- Splatoon 2 (Switch) – 753,411 (4.1 million LTD units)
- Splatoon 3 (Switch) – 2,441,290
Splatoon 3 is on an absolutely crazy sales trajectory.
As this tweet indicates, the performance achieved by Splatoon 3 proves even more significant when compared to that of its predecessors. Although it was acclaimed by the press from its inception, the Splatoon series indeed started much more timidly in 2015 with only 213,731 physical edition sales in two weeks in Japan. It must be said that this first opus was an exclusive Wii U, a machine with much less success than the Switch. Two years later, its sequel, Splatoon 2, therefore logically exploded this score, without however exceeding 753,411 physical sales in Japan, still within the same fifteen-day interval. With its 2.441 million copies sold in the packaged version, Splatoon 3 seems to have passed light speed to reach now totally unpredictable heights!
The Splatoon 3 game is available on Nintendo Switch since September 9, 2022.
