Game News STALKER 2: the Xbox exclusive would not be released for several years!
The STALKER 2 affair continues and the news isn’t particularly good: according to a Russian site, the game won’t arrive before at least two… and inevitably, we better understand Microsoft’s recent actions.
Patience is the mother of virtue
At the beginning of the year only, we really thought that STALKER 2 was about to be released. It had a release date and the communication was in full swing: only here, the situation has become terribly complicated and in particular because of the situation in Ukraine, the GSC Game World studio being based in… kyiv. Many developers then had to flee the country to settle in Prague, in the Czech Republic, where we learned that the gestation had resumed recently.
But the difficulties are still present and very recently, the game which was postponed until then to 2023 has completely lost any release date, even vague. Therefore, to say, Microsoft even started canceling and refunding pre-orders in the face of a fait accomplifor not committing to his community.
A release for 2024, or even 2025?
Today, some potential new details come to us from Vitaly Kazunov, editor-in-chief of Russian gaming site iXBT Games. Based on its own sources, he claims that STALKER 2 would not be released until at least 2024-2025 and that the project would even be in the permanent stage of “repair”.
He also confirms that the problems started about six months ago when the events in Ukraine started and that the move caused significant problems, without further details from him. We obviously imagine that the concerns in question are not only logistical, but also human for many developers; on the other hand, Kazunov believes that the new employees recruited for the occasion in Prague are forced to delete and redo certain aspects of the game.
In short, be patient, it seems that there is more than that to do for the moment.
