If you’re looking for a new gaming mouse pad, the SteelSeries QcK should definitely be on your radar. The wide range of size options, affordability, and focus on the basics of what a mouse pad should be really make it the best mouse pad for gaming.
After trying it out with a variety of pointers, I can also confidently say that it would pair amazingly with our best gaming mouse or best wireless gaming mouse. And while the QcK comes in a variety of sizes, which means the price varies, you can spend as little as $8.99 / £8.99 to get the smallest size (the largest size is $99.99 / £99.99).
Design
The SteelSeries QCK features a very simple design, coming in plain black when you purchase a standard edition. You can also choose a Prism edition that comes with RGB around the edges. The RGB is fully customizable.
As mentioned above, you can also choose options in a wide range of sizes. This means that if you’d rather have a small mouse pad than something larger, you can choose something to cover your entire desk for a more stylish look.
The smallest size for the standard QCK comes in at 250mm x 210mm x 2mm, and the largest is a whopping 1600mm x 800 x 3mm. There are four sizes among these options, for six in total, which means no matter what you’re looking for, there’s something for you in this collection.
Features and performance
You will find that the surface of the QCK is made of cloth. However, SteelSeries has stated that it’s a ‘legendary micro-woven fabric’, meaning you’ll get pinpoint accuracy when gaming. It is fully compatible with optical and laser mice.
I found this to ring true. After upgrading from a cheap, off-brand mouse pad, it was an amazing experience to be able to use a mouse pad designed specifically for gaming. There was no drag at all and no matter what mouse I was using, as I try quite a few for my work, they always slid across my desk with ease.
The base of the mat is made of non-slip rubber to prevent the mat from moving around on your desk no matter what size it is. This was also awesome to use after using a cheap pad that was constantly moving around my desk, especially in the rough spots.
If you opt for the Prism edition, you’ll find fully customizable RGB wrapped around the edges. If you download the SteelSeries Engine software, it also allows you to change the RGB colour, brightness and style in two different zones on the mat. However, it is worth noting that there is no way to change the RGB color without software, as there are no buttons present. When you first plug it in, the edge lights up orange ‘SteelSeries’, so be aware that it will stay that way without the software.
Should you buy the SteelSeries QCK?
This mouse pad is really amazing. I didn’t find a single flaw when using it, and after upgrading from my old cheap mouse pad, I honestly feel like I’ve entered a new realm of gaming. Everything feels so smooth and easy and I never had to worry about drag or movement.
No matter what you are looking for, there will be something for you in the QcK series. With a variety of sizes and the option between RGB or not, you’re sure to find something to match your setup.
