News hardware Tesla is content to deliver 4 Model 3 in July and that’s normal!
No need to adjust your screen, this is not a typo. Tesla only delivered four Model 3s in July. According to Tesla everything is normal and there is nothing to worry about.
Electric cars on the rise and the Model 3 on the decline
July was a special month for the automotive sector. Electric car registrations have jumped 69% yet Tesla is in agony with its four Model 3s delivered to customers. The figures are traditionally rather low for this month, but this is an unprecedented level for the American manufacturer. For comparison, in July 2021 Tesla had sold only 73 Model 3, it is still almost 20 times more than last month.
Logically, it’s even all the brand’s models that are not in the top 20 for July. You have to go down to 29th place to find 75 registered Model Ys. A number still very low, given the volume of production that has been set up at the Gigafactory in Berlin. Clear proof of the impact of the shortage of microcomponents on Tesla.
The manufacturer, however, explained to our own automobile colleagues that the situation was completely normal. Deliveries arrive in greater or lesser quantities as the year progresses. It’s more about quarterly waves, than a constant supply. Tesla explains that most vehicle volume arrives in the second month of the quarter.
Despite its rather disastrous figures, the Model 3 is selling very well. In France, almost 8,000 have been sold this year, which places the car in sixth position among electric vehicles. Its sales were all the same cannibalized by the arrival of the new Model Y which sold more than 4000 copies. Thus pointing to ninth place.
Electric cars are popular
July was an excellent month for electric vehicles in France. We find in particular the latest Megane E-Tech which climbs to first place in the ranking, with almost 2000 registrations. Over the year, it continues to grow, rising to seventh position, ahead of the Peugeot e-2008 and just behind the Tesla Model 3.
The classification in France of electric cars includes a majority of French models. In July alone, seven of the ten most registered cars are French. In total for the year, there are six in the top ten.
