As usual, Apple is often late in adopting new technology. The brand waits for the market to be mature and ensures that entering a new universe will be lucrative. They release very few products compared to the competition, and every decision is crucial.

Not everyone necessarily believes in the future of foldable smartphones, but we can’t help but imagine the direction Apple would take on this subject. The model that convinced the greatest number remains Samsung’s Galaxy Fold, which allows you to have a tablet in the body of a smartphone. We know that Californians are planning something, but it will be later than expected.

Ming-Chi-Kuo, one of the bosses of the Apple rumor game has been following the foldable iPhone case for quite some time. He announced last year a release for 2024, but Tim Cook’s plans would have changed and we will have to wait at least 2025 to see him point the end of his fold.

Details on this new format

Apple would focus on intermediate dimensions between an iPhone and an iPad. Unlike smartphones, the screen would reach 9 inches diagonally, and unlike iPads, it would adopt an OLED panel for contrast and ultra-deep blacks. Even the pixel density, which is higher on iPhones than iPads, would fall between the two products.

A true hybrid therefore, and Kuo does not advance on the question of the type of product, which could be a folding iPad or a device behaving like an iPhone. One wonders how much use one can have with such a large device, knowing that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 measures 7.6 inches.

Two other sizes would be in preparation with an even more massive model, and a foldable iPhone type Z Flip, even if the latter is not the priority of Tim Cook and co. However, we know that Apple is collaborating with LG to produce foldable and very thin OLED screens for tablets and computers, in order to limit the use of plastic.
