There are some trophies and achievements that we remember not because of how difficult they are to obtain or because of the work they require, but because they made us laugh. Perhaps due to a nod to a pop culture reference, the over-the-top nature of what they entail, or a sarcastic comment about what you just did to secure the achievement, there are plenty of memorable examples. Below, we’ve rounded up our pick of the funniest trophies and achievements on PS4 and Xbox One, many of which also translate to PS5 and Xbox Series X.
10. Bugsnax – “Say Cheese” (10G, Bronze Trophy)
Who says you only need to use your Willow Slinger on Bugsnax? In the endearing and wonderfully bizarre adventure of Young Horses, you have many different tools at your disposal to catch all the food-shaped Bugsnax roaming around Snaktooth Island. However, to get this achievement, you’ll need to pick up some cheese sauce and select an unsuspecting Grumpus when he’s not in Snaxburg. Then, when you’ve lined up the perfect shot, you’ll need to slap them in the face and break out your scanner for a photo shoot. Say cheese, actually.
9. Fallout 4 – “Touch!” (10G, Bronze Trophy)
Apparently, Bethesda is more than happy to celebrate your death as you explore the wastelands of Fallout 4, especially when you’re blown to bits by a nuclear blast. The name is a reference to the way the suicidal mutants will drop their nukes on the ground similar to that of an American football player, except doing so will result in cataclysmic annihilation instead of bonus points for the home team.
8. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate – “What’s wrong with you?” (15G, Bronze Trophy)
Shoot and kill five horses in a short space of time in Ubisoft’s recreation of 19th-century London, and the game will half-jokingly question your moral fitness. If you’ve already stumbled upon this one without any prior clues or suggestions, take a look, then maybe you should take it a bit more seriously…
7. Saints Row 4 – “You chose… wrong” (10G, bronze trophy)
Sometimes we are faced with difficult decisions in the game world and in Saints Row 4 you will get an achievement for choosing “wrong” when the alien warlord Zinyak tries to give you a heroic exit. Yes, during a particular mission, the Zin leader who has invaded the land presents you with two different doors to take. Head to the blue door and you will continue to fight, but head to the red door and you can sacrifice yourself to save the world. Taking the last (seemingly noble) route will shorten the game and give you the trophy.
6. Yakuza: Like a Dragon – “Sidewalk Fight!” (10G, Bronze Trophy)
Yakuza: Like A Dragon rocked the Yakuza series with turn-based combat. Born from main character Ichi’s own love for Dragon Quest, the fight lovingly pays homage to classic JRPGs. Together with the party members who have their own fighting styles, you go out on the streets and fight in many battles. Sometimes you will even find yourself in the not-so-safe position of going into combat on busy roads, where someone can get hit by a car. Oh. At least you’re rewarded with an achievement that tells you to fight on the sidewalk!
5. The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe – “Super Go Outside” (100G, Gold Trophy)
The return of Stanley Parable in the recent Ultra Deluxe brought some brilliant new achievements and one plays the most infamous of them all. When the original game was released in 2013, there was an achievement for not playing for five whole years. The Ultra Deluxe edition stepped things up by telling you to get out and not play the game for 10. Crows Crows Crows even called out cheaters who have already bagged this achievement. Guess we’ll see you in a decade, Stanley.
4. Sunset Overdrive – “Overachiever” (10G)
There’s nothing like the little slice of satisfaction you get when you hear an achievement pop up on the screen. Fortunately, the good folks at Insomniac are cheeky enough to give you an achievement “for getting an achievement,” so you get two for one. We are certainly not complaining. If only we were given an achievement for getting an achievement for getting an achievement for… well, you get the idea.
3. The Last Guardian – “The Call of the Wild” (Gold Trophy)
There is no way around this; if you want platinum in The Last Guardian, you’ll have to watch Trico poop. Beneath the adorable feathered exterior, this is, after all, just another animal that needs to do its thing from time to time, especially after you feed it so many of those barrels. However, everyone’s favorite bird-cat-dog will only do the deed when he thinks you’re not looking, so make sure you’re hiding behind something before you catch him in the act.
2. Uncharted 4 – “Stage Fright” (Bronze Trophy)
As revered as the Naughty Dog brand may be, the studio is more than happy to poke fun at itself from time to time. Earning this trophy simply requires a reenactment of the stage demo faux pas that occurred when Uncharted 4 was shown at Sony’s E3 press conference in 2015, in which Drake was stuck in place for a number of minutes. agonizing.
1. Dark Souls 2 – “This is Dark Souls” (10G, Bronze Trophy)
In another example of From Software’s penchant for dark comedy, players will be welcomed into Dark Souls 2 with an achievement/trophy earned after encountering the “You’ve Died” screen for the first time in the game, which won’t take long. time for most. people. It’s like the studio is warning you of what’s to come, but couldn’t do it without a thick layer of sass underlying the whole thing.
