Game News The Mortuary Assistant: when the Exorcist meets Five Nights at Freddy’s, a morbid trailer
The Mortuary Assistant is a brand new game that has just been made available on Steam: its success so far is very positive and its concept has something to arouse curiosity. We look at this together, right away.
one hell of a night
Horror games are legion in the Tenth Art industry and often the prey of independent studios: in itself, that’s exactly what The Mortuary Assistant, new project just released on Steam and from DarkStone Digitaldeveloper of horror experiences like Kohate and Out Secret Below.
This time, the designers are offering an ultra-macabre adventure that has been a real success on the web, both on video platforms but also on Valve’s with a majority of very positive reviews. Like a Five Nights at Freddy’s where the player finds himself locked in a building after dark, here, our hero is trapped in a morgue, himself a medical examiner called to examine the corpse, in the middle of the night.
The catch is that the bodies are visibly possessed and the player must survive until daybreak. We then find pure horror with limbs that come apart, a very creepy Nemesis, shots straight out of hell and some well-known tricks taken from the great classics of cinema.

Sacred Death
Black magic and occultism are then at the center of the experience since we will have to keep demonic forces at a distance, but also practice rituals to identify them. : a strange female figure, Rebecca Owens, will also be at the center of the story with the task of uncovering her past while unraveling the mystery “which lies on the surface”.
The developers also guarantee a system “revolutionary” which ensures that we never feel safe, while several runs (each corresponding to one night) are necessary to reach the end of the game: “every demon you banish is just one piece of the puzzle”says the studio, which also plans “more than ten hours of play and more for the curious”.
On the player side, the reviews seem frankly enthusiastic. The launch trailer has already racked up over 300,000 views in just a few days and the comments speak for themselves:
A VERY good game. A few small bugs should probably be ironed out, but overall a brilliant experience.
I finished my first night and I’m speechless. Still a little buggy here and there, but other than that this game is phenomenal. A really fresh loop and made with great attention to detail. I didn’t expect this level of thoroughness, great ideas, and pre-scripted but random scares that aren’t mainstream all the time.
A potential good surprise therefore, even if we imagine that the result is imperfect and may suffer from some shortcomings, in particular technical. Fans of films like the Exorcist, Insidious or The Possession of Hannah Grace will in any case be seduced, especially since the game is sold at the price of 20,99€ on PC.
