Konami bets on the best technology
Konami Has confirmed that your next retro compendium Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection will use rollback netcode for online mode TMNT: Tournament Fighters. The new factoid will be good news for fans of half-shelled heroes.
The Cowabunga Collection — a compilation that almost seems too good to be true — features a bumper crop of TMNT adventures drawn from the arcade, NES, SNES, Genesis and Game Boy platforms. All of this boils down to hours and hours of classic brawling, platforming, and brawling action, dating back to the halcyon days of 1988, when Turtle Mania was first introduced to the world.

TMNT: Tournament Fighters released on the NES, SNES, and Sega Genesis in 1993, although all three platforms had very different games. Generally considered the best (and arguably the longest lasting) of the three versions, the SNES edition is still played by a dedicated community, who are no doubt thrilled to learn that they will now have a modern copy of the one-on-one classic to future proof. It seems that only the SNES version of tournament fighters will support online play, a decision one would assume hopes to avoid further diluting the niche player base.
Along with the three versions of tournament fighters, The Cowabunga Collection also includes the titles listed below. When you add to this the recently released Dotemu fighter TMNT: Shredder’s RevengeIt has certainly been an amazing year for fans of Leo, Don, Mikey and Raph. Man, I love being a turtle.
