Not much later Loki finished production did Tom Hiddleston finds himself in a leading role in the Apple TV mystery series the essex snakehanging up the mantle of the god of mischief for something a little more science-based.
The actor, who became a household name after first playing the MCU’s portrayal of Loki, plays Will Ransome in the essex snakeand serves as the skeptical counterpart to protagonist Cora Seaborne (Claire Danes) as they become entwined in a series of mysterious events as they search for the titular Essex Serpent, whose reported sightings brought Seaborne to the Essex area in the first place.
In an interview with Digital Spy, Hiddleston was very happy to compare and contrast his two most recent portrayals.
“Well yes, the God of Mischief to a Man of God. I really loved it. There’s an interesting… I found a really weird kind of parallel between them. But of course Loki is some kind of chaos incarnate. And Will is a much more responsible, much more careful, much more grounded individual when you get to know him. He is someone who is trying to keep the community of him in a kind of order of the spirit, I guess, to keep him calm.”
He also noted the fun he had making the exchange between the two characters.
“And I loved the change, changing the context and being surrounded by different people and different collaborators, in a different imagined space. I really loved doing both back to back. They were very different and rewarding in different ways.”
the essex snake is currently streaming on Apple TV.
