Tower of Fantasy players are highlighting apparent issues with localization in the free-to-play game, pointing out a number of items and abilities with descriptions they say have missing, incorrect, or misleading details. The Genshin Impact type has proven popular since its release in August and players are already anticipating the release date of Tower of Fantasy 1.5 later in September. However, some say they have been frustrated by a number of notable inconsistencies in the anime game’s text descriptions.
A thread on the Tower of Fantasy subreddit raised the issue, asking why the Samir Matrix Set used in the Best Samir Build has completely different descriptions between the in-game rewards preview page and the actual item description on the matrix itself. In response, user Tankulator provided a large number of incorrect or misleading descriptions that they have come across, and asked other players to contribute their own findings.
Says Tankulator: “At this point, no one will know what anything in the game does until people go and test every little detail.” Among the highlights of the list is Tower of Fantasy character Meryl, whose 4000 point awakening trait causes the water around your character to automatically freeze, despite this not being mentioned anywhere in the description of the trait. Bygone Phantasm, which claims to temporarily max out your current weapon level and rotate in a daily bonus, no longer does this; According to YouTuber gateoo, this is the result of an earlier description translated from the Chinese version.
Other misdescriptions noted include buffs that increase the damage of a different elemental damage type than what is detailed in the text, such as C6 Hilda, which claims to increase normal attack but actually affects frost damage. Players take double damage while using damage reflection in the Barbarossa Matrix, despite this not being mentioned – Tankulator speculates that this might be intended to improve damage reflection, but asks why it’s not mentioned in the description if so.
They also point out that ‘assist mode’ does not stop the use of consumables in a dungeon as the description implies, but instead prevents the attempt from being consumed. There are even several instances of untranslated text and text not fitting properly into its box in-game, and newcomer Frigg launched with missing descriptions suggesting it had been heavily nerfed from the Chinese version of the game, though this one fails on particular was fixed after it was flagged by the community.
