It seems that Netflix is getting very creative with its promotional material. In the case of your next release Personal timestarring Kevin Hart, Regina Hall and Mark Whalberg, the streaming giant dropped a relaxing, sleep-inducing promo video on Twitter, but it seems Hart missed the point.
The latest film, from the comic mind of John Hamburg (I love you man Y Along Came Polly), features Hart doing what he does best, playing a somewhat normal man who gets caught up in something crazy, comedic drama ensues, and he screams, a lot. Hart’s character Sonny has been living his life as a stay at home dad and has done nothing but take care of his kids, his wife (Hall) forces him to take some time to himself and he ends up going back to hook up with an old friend whose still living wild, Huck (Wahlberg).
Now, Hart isn’t really known for using his inner voice, and the film’s recent promo video taps into that. Under the guise of creating a relaxing ASMR-like story time to send late-night viewers to sleep (as if Netflix really wanted that), Whalberg and Hall speak softly into their big microphones, only to be derailed by Hart yelling less. of calming plot points from the movie.
In Hart’s usual shenanigans, the movie contains a ton of wacky shenanigans that no person could possibly survive in back-to-back order, including the clip that shows him getting mauled by a lion and base jumping with no prior experience. Hart is really pushing them on Netflix, with his latest movie, the man from torontolaunched on the platform just two months ago.
Personal time will premiere on Netflix on August 26.
