Reba McEntire is breaking all the rules in the exciting new trailer for his upcoming Lifetime movie, The hammer, And if you thought you’d seen Reba’s peak perfection, well, you haven’t seen anything yet!
A fast-talking, driving, swinging woman, McEntire stars as Kim Wheeler, Nevada’s 5th District’s newest judge who has more guts and fire than anyone realizes. In fact, the trailer opens with a brash, tough Wheeler being pulled over by someone who has no idea who she is.
“The speed-o is fixed at 90, so getting an accurate reading after that is impossible,”, he says when an officer asks if he knows how fast he was going, and the rest is history.
Wheeler will take over as judge after Jacob Brewer passes away, but his death is anything but ordinary. Viewers see the moment when Wheeler discovers that they now know there was nothing natural about his passing.
“I may be new, but trust this: I will do my best for the truth.,” Wheeler promises in the trailer, and it’s a promise he intends to keep.
Of course, she’ll need help, and a familiar face enters the picture as her co-star-turned-friend Melissa Peterman takes on the role of Kim’s sister Kris. From petty crime to murder, Wheeler has a lot on his plate, and there’s nothing like the help of those who know him best to help him get ahead.
However, the family bond between Kim and Kris will make their job more difficult this time. The official synopsis of the film is as follows:
“After the reigning judge dies under suspicious circumstances, Kim finds herself covering a circuit that stretches from Las Vegas to Reno, a rugged, often desolate area where anything can happen. Mallet in hand, he lays down the law with a no-nonsense style of justice that quickly earned him the nickname ‘The Hammer’. As the investigation into the former judge’s death intensifies, Kim’s sister Kris (Peterman), who runs the local brothel, suddenly becomes the prime suspect, and Kim must push herself even harder to make sure it’s done. Justice.
With (not so) gentle hands and the heart of a fighter, McEntire, excuse me, Wheeler will no doubt make a name for himself in small-town Nevada and support justice. It’s Reba’s world, and we just live in it.
The hammer is scheduled for a 2023 release on Lifetime.
