With the official launch on Wednesday of Netflix’s ambitious new Addams Family series drawing ever closer, it’s exciting to get new footage of what this show will look like. Our first look at Gomez and Morticia comes to us from Vanity Fair, and it’s evident that this Wednesday the Addams-centric show will at least look like the part.
While the show will focus on Wednesday (Jenna Ortega), you can expect all the characters in this long-running universe to be a part of the ghoulish fun. Isaac Ordonez certainly resembles Wednesday’s somewhat unlucky brother, Pugsley. Newly released images of Gomez (Luis Guzmán) and Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) pose as one of fiction’s most beloved couples and images of Wednesday interacting with their parents and Pugsley suggest these characters are going to be pretty firmly grounded. in what we know and love.
At the same time, the 8-episode series, of which director/executive producer Tim Burton has directed half, promises to bring several new elements to his Wednesday story trying to make his way through the world of adolescence. Sent to a school for misfits and outcasts, Wednesday finds herself trying to make sense of the development of psychic powers, her relationship with her family, and a series of murders that occur at her new school.
An ambitious show of what we have soon, on Wednesday could prove very successful for Netflix. While we haven’t seen Grandma Addams, Lurch, Thing, or anyone else potentially associated with Charles Addams’ famous creation, the footage we do have gives us a good indication that Wednesday won’t forget what people love about these characters. .
