Well, it’s certainly been a bit of a busier week for us here at Nintendo Life. As for game announcements, we’ll be getting Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards on the Switch Online Expansion Pass, plus Alan Wake has been confirmed for a Switch release later this year. Finally, of course, we had a new Indie World showcase, packed with lots of great little eShop gems.
In other news, our very own NL community member Zuljaras created a remarkable DOOM sculpt, we take a look at the emerging narrative within Minecraft, and there’s been some weird drama surrounding Fei Long’s character in Street! Fighter! Last but not least, we saw the release of Nintendo’s financial results for fiscal 2022, which begs the question of when we might see the Switch 2 arrive.
Now is the time to relax and discuss our weekend game plans. a few metersMembers of the Nintendo Life team have done just that below, so feel free to read our posts and then join your own via our comments section. Enjoy!

This weekend, it’s a double dose of new short RPGs, both of a very different kind! I’ll dive into Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising, Metroidvania-style, which looks like a pretty cool little primer before the main event: Eiyuden Chronicle: One Hundred Heroes – hits next year. I don’t mind the idea of searching repetitive searches at this point; I just need a low-risk, pleasurable experience.
Also on the docket is Jump Over The Age’s Citizen Sleeper, a game that only popped up on my radar a few weeks ago. I stumbled upon the soundtrack, and the lo-fi synthwave beats practically screamed (hummed?) “Pick up the game!”. Our review also helped. More tabletop RPGs and much higher stakes, but still about people and communities. See you next week!

On the good ‘ol Switch, it’s probably time I did finally play Gris, which I have heard very well. I’ve also started a new run on Civilization VI where I’m trying to bring Robert the Bruce’s Scotland into space; I love realism!
Elsewhere I have started a proper career since a long time ago Yakuza: like a dragonwith the mission not to fall in the middle of the story this time, or waste too much time in the karting minigame.

So I’m still working on Bioshock Infinite this weekend, because uhh… I didn’t really play it last weekend, when I said I would. I’m sorry. I’ll try to make some decent progress this time though and hopefully polish it up sometime before next weekend.
Elsewhere, I decided to play Red Dead Redemption 2 again on the PS5. I love getting lost in the world of that game, and it’s been so long that I’ve pretty much forgotten about the narrative.

This weekend is my first weekend off after two weeks of COVID followed by two weeks of a family visit, so I’ll be playing… SLEEP. Just kidding, it’s video game time, babyyyy. Earthbound is the obvious one, due to Backlog Club, but I haven’t stopped playing Slay The Spire yet! I’m at 115 hours (played it a lot over the last month) and have only beaten Heart twice (Flaw x2). I was close to the Ironclad, but I forgot to take the last key. I’m still salty for it.
Otherwise it’s going to be a mix of watching my partner play elden ring, which is amazing, and trying out Dead Cells, which I first bought on sale a couple of weeks ago. To be honest, I’m not sure why I’ve put it off, I love roguelikes, but I find it a bit difficult to get into, because it seems like I somehow skipped a tutorial. I have no idea. Please leave clues, thanks.

I’m just going to get my Wii U business in order. We finally had internet at home last night!

I’m halfway through Division 1 Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe league table and things can go either way. Got some exceptional new players including Jams, the best Forward in the entire game to turn things around. Forward to the last trilogy on LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga with at least the force awakens to do this weekend. Nice physical arrivals included. archvalley Y death smiles 1+2.
The game of the week is cotton fantasy! While my physical edition is still out at some point, ININ Games was kind enough to send me a review code. What a fantastic reset! I can’t keep track of how many games Umihara Kawase guest stars in anymore.
As always, thanks for reading! Be sure to leave us a comment below with your game plans for the weekend!
