Why Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 won’t feature zombies

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is shaping up to be an exciting game for several reasons. The campaign brings together Task Force 141 to allow players to fight alongside iconic figures like Soap and Ghost. Multiplayer leaks have hinted that classic weapons like the Intervention and ACR will return, while Infinity Ward has teased a remaster of the Highrise multiplayer map. Several experimental game modes have also been rumored.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 it looks set to succeed and could offer players a ton of content, but one thing it won’t feature is a Zombies mode. While this may initially sound underwhelming, it could turn out to be the right move for a few reasons, as the game in general benefits from a lack of undead. Like Modern war 2019, modern warfare 2 it could thrive without classic co-op.

Infinity Ward can focus on new experiences

If leaks are to be believed, Infinity Ward will be testing out some truly unique game modes with Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. So far, fans have the most details about the DMZ game mode, which is supposedly inspired by Escape from Tarkov. This mode would supposedly place players in a large arena where they can loot and mine resources, and would presumably use TarkovThe mechanics of permanent death.

Supposedly, the DMZ mode will feature four full maps, which is good content that shows how determined Infinity Ward is to make this new experience a success. The story told through modern warfare 2Seasons are said to take place within the DMZ game mode, which would mark a change from the usual formula as call of duty: war zone Events are currently used to progress the story. Although DMZ sounds like a content-packed experience, two other modes have also been rumored.

Another new game mode for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 supposedly it will be much more tactical and will resemble rainbow six siege. Nicknamed Attackers vs. Defenders, this mode will apparently feature destructible environments that can be reinforced, as well as multiple rounds with time limits. A system of conditions for game operators would also be introduced if this leaked mode were to actually occur, causing players to need to heal themselves and their allies. Taking into account that Call of Duty: VanguardDestruction of ‘s will not appear on Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2However, the validity of this leak is up in the air.

A truly strange leak suggested that a PTA similar co-op mode would be coming as well, with this horror-focused experience seeing players don night vision goggles inside a haunted building. While Infinity Ward has tried to innovate in the past through game modes like Extinction, this would be a huge change of pace for the franchise. Regardless, if any of these modes happen (especially DMZ or the PT-inspired experience), it makes sense that Infinity Ward doesn’t have the time and resources to bother with Zombies.

Non-Treyarch Zombies mods have always had issues

While the Obligations The series has tried multiple times to recapture the magic of Treyarch’s Zombies mode without the studio that created it, none of these attempts have been successful. Most saw Exo Zombies as a huge flop due to its frustrating Special Zombies, while Second World War Zombies’ lackluster maps overshadowed its horror aesthetic.

It is true that, infinity war Zombies was the closest Activision came to getting Zombies without Treyarch, and Infinity Ward was behind this mode. Still, he had the unfortunate task of following black ops 3that most see as the peak of Obligations zombies. Also, while Zombies in Spaceland was a popular debut map, the DLC didn’t quite match its quality. Likewise, while the Super Easter Egg was handled brilliantly, the overall gameplay was clunkier than Treyarch’s, and the downright silly tone wasn’t for everyone. The playable characters were also forgettable and the art style was divisive. infinity war Zombies may have done some things right, but it was still flawed, and it’s proof that it’s better for Infinity Ward to forge its own path than to follow in Treyarch’s footsteps.

Giving zombies a break after Call of Duty: Vanguard

Call of Duty: Vanguard has shown that even Treyarch can fail when it comes to Zombies, and the distaste for this iteration of the mode could be another reason why. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is jumping Zombies. With Call of Duty: Vanguard, Treyarch attempted to move away from the round-based style that fans loved. Although the objective style would have been divisive enough, the bigger problem is that the mode was missing things that fans had come to expect. Easter Egg Hunts, Hidden Songs, Wonder Weapons, Pack-A-Punch camos, and even server pause were not ready on launch day, causing a significant amount of negative reaction.

While the release of Shi No Numa Reborn and the return of Wunderwaffe DG-2 have been well received, the move to round-based content comes near the end of Call of Duty: Vanguardlife cycle of . As such, many have moved on and feel it’s too little too late, so it seems unlikely that the mode will stop being seen as a disappointment. Treyarch was clearly in a hurry to make Vanguard Zombies, and the experimental approach didn’t work, so it’s safe to assume that getting the developer to do modern warfare 2Zombies mode would lead to a similar result.

Treyarch doesn’t just need a break to fully focus on making Obligations Zombies 2024 is the best it can be, but the community needs a break too. Obligations Zombies works best when fans have some time to miss it, returning every few years along with every Treyarch game. Have a Zombies mode for each Obligations game can not only put too much pressure on the developers, as with Vanguard, but it also leads to an oversaturation of Zombies content. Treyarch needs to distance himself from VanguardThe troubled launch of, and it’s just as important to make sure the next Zombies mode is a success so it can win back lost fans.

Treyarch needs to develop modern warfare 2 Zombies along with its own game could have led to another rushed release like Vanguard, while Infinity Ward did, could have resulted in another failed attempt to replicate Treyarch’s success. Lack of zombies in modern warfare 2 is ideal as it provides a much-needed cooldown period for fans, developers, and the mode in general.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 launches October 28 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
