Why Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is adding a DLC class, but Borderlands 3 didn’t

Tiny Tina’s Wonderland It recently announced that its fourth Mirror of Mystery would be accompanied by a new class, called the Blightcaller. Not much has been confirmed about this class yet, except that it is a shaman-like class that uses spirits and summons storms to hit enemies with poison and elemental damage. In short, it’s pretty much what someone would expect from a Blighter-style druid in Dungeons and Dragons.

However, this announcement may surprise some fans of the franchise. After all, the last entry to add a new class as DLC was borderlands 2, which featured Gaige the Mechromancer and Krieg the Psycho. These two characters were so popular that they even headed their own borderlands 3 DLC, but the threequel never added any new DLC characters. However, the explanation why Tiny Tina’s Wonderland is getting a new class, but borderlands 3 I never did, does it make any sense.

Why Borderlands 3 Didn’t Get Any DLC Classes

When borderlands 3 developer Gearbox confirmed there would be no DLC classes, fans were understandably upset. Again, Gaige and Krieg are incredibly popular, but their popularity is tied to their existence and their character’s role in the franchise, not their actual class. the first three borderlands games don’t really separate character from class, but Gearbox data shows that these two borderlands 2 the classes weren’t popular, though the characters were.

As explained at the time, the rate of reproduction of these new BL2 the class additions weren’t really where they should be. It also makes sense. Instead of starting a completely new game with a completely new character and class, players preferred to stick to their already established main base. borderlands 2launch classes. Some may try out the new classes, some may even make a full game, but a big focus in the endgame was the core classes, not the DLC classes.

While those who enjoyed playing Krieg or Gaige were upset and it may still have been a difficult decision for Gearbox, perhaps it was the right one. borderlands 3 DLC had its ups and downs and was released in the middle of the pandemic, so adding more work for less reward doesn’t make much sense. Nevertheless, borderlands 3 it took full advantage of many established franchise characters, even if fans disagreed with the fate of Maya or Lilith. Adding more characters wouldn’t really change that.

Why the Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands DLC Classes Make the Most Sense

However, this begs the question: if the DLC classes weren’t worth it for Borderlands 3, why add them? Tiny Tina’s Wonderland? The answer is quite obvious. Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is a spin-off, and in it, players create their own character, choose their own class, and can even make multiple classes. These mechanics make a DLC class less strenuous and more likely to be worthwhile. By removing the character, the class is more likely to be a bit easier to make for Tiny Tina’s Wonderland of what it would be for Borders 3.

In terms of focusing on final builds in Tiny Tina’s Wonderland, these new classes do not force players to run the entire game again. If players want a Blightcaller as their main Tiny Tina’s Wonderland class, that’s certainly possible. But Tiny Tina’s Wonderland players can change their multiclass, allowing them to experiment with new versions of Blightcaller without having to run the entire game to get there. If you don’t like the new version, you can also go back. Sure, there’s a potential loss of popularity without a character, but there’s no real downside to introducing a new class here.

By simplifying the classes in Tiny Tina’s Wonderland, its additions complement the build quest endgame’s commitment much more than the introduction of an entirely new character and class. With this in mind, it would not be surprising to see Tiny Tina’s Wonderland add more classes in the future, but every time borderlands 4 releases, it’s doubtful fans will see this happen there.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderland is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
