News hardware Why won’t Elon Musk sit on Twitter’s board?
After many twists and turns, Elon Musk will finally not be part of the board of directors of Twitter, a few days after the CEO of the platform said the opposite. The mystery hangs over the exact reason for this decision.
No Elon Musk at the board table
While Tesla was presenting the new features of its Cybertruck in Texas, the Twitter x Elon Musk soap opera ended (we hope) with a turnaround on the part of the billionaire. He will therefore not participate in Twitter’s decisions.
The information comes from its CEO, Parag Agrawal, who had himself announced his joy at the arrival of Elon on the board of directors. The latter, having bought nearly 10% of the shares of Twitter recently, responded to Parga’s announcement, saying that he too was delighted to embark on this new adventure.
However, it will not be so because Elon refused his position, the same day of its formalization on April 9.
Why Elon Musk isn’t joining the board
No reason is explicitly mentioned, but certain elements of the story tip the scales in both directions.
First, a deal would prevent the Space X boss from grabbing more than 14.9% of Twitter’s total equity as long as he sits on the board. It is therefore possible that he has the objective of snacking beyond in the near future, and is forced to refuse his decision-making seat. In this case, his objective is clear: line up the tickets to take over Twitter. And it’s not the money that’s missing.
On the contrary, he may disagree with other board members. Indeed, according to the Washington Post, Twitter employees did not appreciate that someone like Elon could sit on the decision-making board.
We can imagine many things concerning the more or less positive relations that Elon and the council have had for the past few days. Be that as it may, nothing seems to be over and we will closely follow the next pranks of the billionaire troller.
