William Shatner’s performance in ‘The Masked Singer’ wowed the audience when he took the stage in a strange and elaborate Knight costume.
The show has seen the likes of Tori Spelling, La Toya Jackson, Rumer Willis, Gladys Knight, T Pain, and Kelly Osbourne. Last night’s offer came from none other than William Shatner, who has firmly established himself as an iconic cult character with his role as Captain James Kirk on Star Trek.
Shatner is known to have released one or two albums, Looking for Major Tom Y shatner claus: the christmas album, he surprised the audience when he took off his helmet.
When asked about his turn with the Masked Singer and why he chose the Knight costume in particular, which seemed extremely difficult to wear, Shatner said:
Well, I don’t remember choosing it, but it seemed like a good idea. It all seemed like a good idea at the time until you do it. It’s like declaring war. You declare war, and then the moment you declare war, everything is different, and nothing is what you planned. He couldn’t speak, he couldn’t hear, he couldn’t breathe. Like everyone else I know who has done the show, the performance is much less than you expected due to the awkwardness of the costumes. But at the same time, that’s part of the fun of the show.
Regarding seeing his performance, he doesn’t think he can stand it: I don’t know if I can bear it. I usually don’t see my performances anywhere, let alone something that probably went to hell.
Don’t be too hard on yourself Shatner, if it was fun at the time, that’s all that counts.
