A Wo Long demo? Sign me up!
Given the minor impact of this “summer of gaming” push, I wouldn’t blame you for forgetting wo long, Team Ninja’s “later Han dynasty dark fantasy version” in action game form. But once the wo long the demo comes out, as long as it’s cool, you’ll probably hear it at that time!
Yes, on the official Twitter account of the game, the studio is starting its marketing campaign early, noting that the game will have wizardry elements, as well as online multiplayer, a morale system, a character creator, and more. The last point is the most important: a “play test in the near future”.
From the pre-launch period of nioh Years ago, Team Ninja used to test their action game through very prolific playtests: which also serve as a kind of beta. It allows the studio to reassess its internal goal, adjust things like mechanics, animations, and difficulty curves; and even highlights quality-of-life features.
They have done quite well so far, as both nioh entries have been bolstered by excellent beta updates for launch and major post-launch patches. Given the wo long comes out in “early 2023” (as of press time), this will be plenty of time to assess and readjust if it’s really coming “in the near future”.
