One of the biggest scourges around the video game continues to wreak havoc in the communication of development studios and publishers. Indeed, a series of leaks has just spread on the web about the highly anticipated next expansion of the famous MMORPG from Blizzard Entertainment. Besides its name, various elements of it suffered the same fate!
Summary
- No “WoW” effect in sight for the ad?
- Leaks that could prove the rumors right!
No “WoW” effect in sight for the ad?
During the first third of March, Blizzard Entertainment finally came out of the silence regarding the ninth expansion of World of Warcraft. Highly anticipated, the planning for the reveal of the latter had the effect of a bombshell within the community of players of the iconic MMO, and we can understand it as it crystallizes many expectations! However, many believe that Blizzard has no room for error with this extension and the pressure is immense: for the studio, it will have to manage its stress a few more days before the fateful announcement of April 19.

Unfortunately, the surprise planned by Blizzard may lose some of its luster due to the recent leak of the game’s ninth expansion.. Thus, as the site mentions wowheadsome information about it would have ended up on the web, two weeks before the online event organized by Blizzard. In question, an update of the World of Warcraft site would mention, in its source code, data relating to the pre-purchases of extensions in the form of base, Heroic and Epic.
Leaks that could prove the rumors right!
Pending any form of confirmation from Blizzard Entertainment, it should be taken with a grain of salt. But if the veracity of these leaks is confirmed, it could be that the rumors mentioned at the beginning of last month were right on target! In our article about the announcement of this ninth extension, we evoked the rumors announcing a future theme related to the dragons which could well be the case according to the name which is currently spreading on the web: namely ” Dragonflight »
The extension that will succeed shadowlands, released in November 2020, will certainly formalize its name during the April 19 event. This will also be an opportunity to see if the elements that are currently circulating about it are true. Currently, the game’s source code contains an unreachable URL called “dragonflight.blizzard.com” while the site wowhead reportedly got their hands on a gallery of items related to this new expansion, including a green/emerald colored dragon mount.

This is yet another blow for Activision-Blizzard which sees one of the most important elements of the coming weeks being undermined by a new information leak. Anyway, the studio has yet to confirm all this in good and due form but it could well be that this data reinforces the expectations of the fans in two weeks, in 15 days more precisely!
