Steam received a new update yesterday that might interest some of you who own one (or several) of the retro Switch controllers.
VGC reports that Valve’s digital platform now supports NES, SNES, N64, and Mega Drive/Genesis controllers. So you can play classics like Glover, multiple Mega Drive games, Chrono Trigger, the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters, and much more using the controller you were always meant to play with! or maybe you can play Elden Ring with an NES controller if you want to.
Valve’s patch notes state that it “added support for classic Nintendo Online controllers”, though The Verge has since confirmed with the company that this is only for those official retro controllers.
You can also remap the controls to your liking, just like with any other controller you might use on the deck. Pretty nifty, huh? This should inspire a lot of weird and wonderful ways to play games on Steam.
Will you be using your retro controllers on Steam? Tell us in the comments!
